The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Sampson Ahi has revealed that a Brazilian company would soon start the construction of over 5,000 housing units in the country.
According to him, plans are far advanced for the Brazilian company which he failed to name to construct some affordable houses for the people of Ghana.
“By next month there is a company from Brazil that would build 5,000 housing units. We have done all the necessary work and they would start work by next month” Hon. Ahi said
Speaking in an interview with XYZ News, Hon. Sampson Ahi added that Ghana needs 241 million cedis to complete some existing affordable housing projects across the country.
The deputy Minister said that would help address the 1.7 million housing deficit in the country.
He however urged for calm while the government takes these steps to fix the housing challenges.
“We have done some work but we would need 241 million Ghana cedis to be able to complete the affordable housing throughout the country” Hon. Ahi said.
